FIRS (Forum of International Respiratory Societies)

The Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) was established in 2002, with members coming from leading international professional respiratory societies (listed below). The forum aims to promote advocacy in matters of global respiratory health and the identification of new areas for global initiatives. FIRS has collaborations with the Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases (GARD), the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) and the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA). It organised the “Year of the Lung” (2010) and World Spirometry Day in 2012 and is planning another for 2014.
